Hola Kayla. ¿Cómo estás? Que contenta me puse cuando recibí tu carta. No te lo puedes imaginar me gusto ??d?o ver la foto de tus padres y hermano, a ti ya gracias a Dios te conocía. ¿Cuándo volveremos a vernos? Que bien te vi en la computadora estás muy contenta. Ahora tengo los dos está. A Mariana ya veo la conoces. No te puede imaginar lo contenta que estoy con los dos. Con ella voy ???d?o a Misa, el viernes día 17. Vamos a una concentración con la parroquia. Salimos a las seis de rosales, y a los siete llegamos a la Catedral para celebrar el Cardenal una misa. Esto lo hacemos por el año de la fé. Ella está entusiasmadísima. Le gusta todo esto como a tí. No te puedes imaginar lo que me acuerdo de Carlotta y tú. Fuisteis muy cariñosa conmigo. Con estas dos me pona igual. Mariana ya la conoce es un encanto. La ropita es estaba haciendo para los bebés. Ya han nacido—uno el 6 de novienbre y el otro el 22. Están los dos para comérselos. El mayor ya se ha bautizado. El otro el día domingo de resunción. Estamos locos con ellos. Ha sido un regalo del cielo. Ya hemos entrado en cuaresma el viernes 22. Tengo que leer o el viacrucis.

Writing letters in Spanish
I’ve been refreshing myself on how to write a letter in Spanish (I’m sending a Christmas card to Lola!), and I just want to take a moment to appreciate how Spanish-speakers do it.
If you’re writing a formal letter, you would start with something like
Estimado Sr. Ramírez,
which, translated literally, is “Esteemed Mr. Ramírez…” I’m like, aww yeah, getting super fancy up in here!
For letters to family and friends, you stick with “Dear.” But I love their word for dear because it comes from the word querrer which is “to love.” So when you say
Querida Lola,
it’s really like saying, “Beloved Lola…” IT’S THE BEST.
And THEN there are the different ways of signing off, which are all super affectionate.
- Un abrazo, (a hug)
- Un fuerte abrazo, (a strong hug)
- Cariñosos saludos, (loving regards)
- Afectuosamente, (affectionately)
- Besitos, (little kisses)
- Besos y abrazos, (kisses and hugs)
- Con todo mi cariño, (with all my caring)
- Con todo mi afecto, (with all my affection)
