Life without language « Neuroanthropology →
Thought without symbols — life without language — it’s a cognitive reality that is virtually impossible for most modern humans to fathom. For the vast majority of us, our thought processes have been profoundly shaped by the introjection of language into our cognitive worlds, the taking on board of a massive intellectual prosthesis, the collective product of countless generations. Human thought,...

Right to Life: Holy Innocents →
prolifeadvocate: In the Catholic Church, today is the feast of the Holy Innocents. Today we remember all the children that were killed by Herod’s men in hopes of killing Jesus. They were pure and innocent martyrs. Let us take a moment to remember the Holy Innocents of today: our brothers and sisters killed by…

Today I visited the Jack Daniels distillery.
It was a really good tour. No free samples. Sad day. haha Our tour guide had a super thick accent and a big belly and a big beard and overalls. Also, I have never been so overwhelmed with the smell of ethanol in my life. The people that work there have a real dedication to making the best product they can, and I really admire that. They work hard to make the whiskey they love! Ironic fact of the...

December 28 - Holy Innocents Feast Day
thecatholicgirl: In Ramah is heard the sound of moaning, of bitter weeping! Rachel mourns her children, she refuses to be consoled because her children are no more. -Jeremiah 31:15 Father, the Holy Innocents offered you praise by the death they suffered for Christ. May our lives bear witness to the faith we profess with our lips. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who...

Just saw "True Grit"
It was really good. I didn’t really care to see it, but I actually enjoyed it very much. [The grammar nazi in me hates that the movie name is in quotes, but it’s not possible to underline in the title of the post. Sigh.]
